How are you guys doing? Enjoying the holiday of course. It’s that time of the season again, its Christmas and I’m super excited about this one… So thankful for this year.
Today’s post is a little bit different from what y’all have been seeing. People over time has seen print clashing as difficult to pull off but the truth is that it’s simple. All you need is self confidence & you can rock the print clash trend which a lot of people run from (I’m not gonna say ‘shy’ cause people literally do run away from clashing print)
Just cause I said clashing prints & patterns properly is something that separates the sartorial men from the boys and marks you out as a don of dressing.
There are different ways to mix, match & clash print like a pro. The question is are you ready to leave your comfort zone & stand out?
THE COLOURS SHOULD COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER
For those who are not a pro yet please don’t over do it. Complimenting colours helps in mixing prints. Just choose one print to dominate & pick a colour to match the other print. For a more bolder look, you can colour block just like i did but you’ve got to be really good at it.
MIX BIGGER PRINTS WITH SMALLER PRINTS
Yes!!! This is one major rule that helps to get a win win in mixing print. Think of print in terms of their size, and choose a big size and a smaller size to go together. Its that simple. Also mixing similar prints in different colours can work out just fine.
BREAK THE PATTERN FOR A LESS BUSY OUTFIT
Use neutrals or solid to break up the Outfit. Choose a solid color that matches both prints and feature it prominently in between the prints rather than having the prints layered on top of one another. This gives the eye a chance to rest instead of jumping back and forth between busy prints.
TREAT STRIPES AS NEUTRAL
Believe it or not, stripes match everything from paisley to ikat to polka dots, let them be your fallback. Finally when in doubt, polka dots and stripes always work.
With these simple steps in mind, mixing prints is nothing but a piece of cake. So during this festive season & you still confused on what to wear? Look no further, look different, mix prints & stand out!!!
This was my second Outfit for my sister’s wedding. Hope you like it.
Merry Christmas & a Prosperous New Year.
